Sean Connolly is the founder of Connolly Law Office, P.C. and an Illinois overweight truck defense attorney representing truck drivers, owner-operators, and trucking companies throughout the state. His practice focuses on defending citations issued under 625 ILCS 5/15-111 and related overweight and over-dimension violations.
Sean regularly represents clients in Cook County, DuPage County, Will County, Lake County, Kane County, and throughout Illinois, helping them avoid costly fines, protect their CDL licenses, and reduce the impact of violations on their businesses.
Before entering private practice, Sean served as an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted serious traffic offenses, including DUI, suspended/revoked license cases, and felony narcotics matters. This prosecutorial experience gives him a strategic advantage when defending Illinois truck overweight tickets, allowing him to anticipate how cases are evaluated and prosecuted.
Sean has successfully defended hundreds of overweight truck citations in Illinois, achieving favorable outcomes through dismissals, reductions, and strategic negotiations. When necessary, he aggressively litigates cases at trial and has successfully handled appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court.

Sean is also a retired Colonel with 30 years of military service in the United States Army, including active duty, the Illinois Army National Guard, and the Army Reserve.
He graduated from John Carroll University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Chemical Corps. He later served as a Judge Advocate in the JAG Corps and retired after serving as Staff Judge Advocate for the 99th Readiness Division.
Sean deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism, serving in Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally meritorious service during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He is a superior graduate of the United States Army War College.
